Selected Scenes Redux - Bed

For the last several months, twilightwomen has been re-introducing back into rotation on the site several older scenes that had been absent from their archive for some time. The scenes in question are part of the Selected Scenes content section of the site and range in length from twenty-five minutes to over an hour. Since new visitors to twilightwomen may have missed these scenes the first time around, their recent reappearance marks a good time for a quick review. Today, we look at:

Bed

I think this was the first scene I ever saw with Rachel, now a key character in the House of Shame series. At the time, I thought of her primarily as the girl with the wings. Rachel has an elaborate tattoo of wings across her upper back and shoulder blades. I'd never seen anything like it - still haven't. She shares this scene with Gena and Tosha who, as mentioned previously, usually appear together in scenes on TW.

The scene starts out with Gena and Tosha, fully clothed, on a bed together. Gena and Tosha are enthusiastic as usual and seem completely natural and at ease with each other as they begin kissing and pushing aside clothing. Rachel, dressed in rare business-drag, soon joins them and watches in a vaguely predatory fashion, until they begin to include her. Rachel eventually disrobes except for a pair of silk tap pants - a charmingly retro touch. There is also some very hot kissing in this section between Gena and Tosha.

The thing to remember about Selected Scenes, I think, is that they are almost completely un-edited and un-polished. It's best to think of them as previews of movies to come and maintain low expectations for narrative and flow of action. As such, a scene will continue on for a while and then cut suddenly to another, sometimes later, point in time or place. About 25 minutes in, the scene on the bed changes and after a cut, all three of the girls are completely nude and stretched out next to each other. There is a nice long segment of kissing and touching in this position, largely designed for the viewer to admire the aesthetics of their naked bodies. This eventually leads to an unexpected turn of events wherein Rachel takes the lead by rolling on top of the other two girls, straddling them both and initiating a unique missionary tribbing position. This is actually my favorite part of this scene. Rachel is quite athletic-looking here and at one point, it looks as if she could almost take flight. Bed is worth watching for this section alone.

A bit later, the scene changes again and we see only Rachel and Tosha, lying naked together on a rug in front of a couch. Tosha looks - bear with me here - for all the world, a bit like Marilyn Monroe. Rachel lies partly on top of her, kissing and stroking her body and Tosha seems almost in a dream-state of sensual bliss. I remember my surprise when I first viewed this part of the scene, at what a sexy pair these two make. To me, they are not a very intuitive pair but Tosha is very feminine and Rachel always plays the tomboy and somehow here, the chemistry really works. The scene closes shortly after Rachel rides Tosha to a frenzied climax and the two kiss, exhausted.

While not particularly coherent as a scene, Bed is still almost an hour of surprisingly sexy footage with considerable orgasmic pay-off. Well worth a viewing. Next up - Collar with Alexi and Zille.

Rachel's Slave

Last week, twilightwomen released the full-length download of House of Shame Part 4 - Rachel's Slave. Rachel's Slave was originally released on the site (in the standard TW format of one movie broken up into 12-21 smaller MPEG clips) late in 2009. I recall that at the time, I was interested to note that it was more of a plot-driven movie than the previous two in the House of Shame series. It establishes the important and recurring character of Tiffany and therefore features a rather lengthy (yet quite perversely erotic) opening scene. I sort of noted all this and moved on, back then, to other movies that grabbed my attention. Last week's release of this title in large format, however, gave me a reason to take a fresh look at the movie and I am here with a public service announcement that if any of you breezed past this one the first time around, as I did, take a closer look!

Rachel's Slave opens in a bar, manned only, it seems, by young and shapely Tiffany. Furthermore, the only patron appears to be Rachel, looking just as we last saw her in HOS Part Two - like a shy, flirtatious, utterly adorable young punk. (An aside: hats off to Div For'e for setting this movie in possibly the most erotic environs possible for a sapphic scene - the dyke bar. Is there any other setting that evokes more mystery, curiosity and erotic possibility than the all-female territory of the dyke bar? I think not, and it is a pathetically under-utilized setting for lesbian erotica.)

Rachel and Tiffany execute a very believable dance of flirtation and erotic interest in the empty bar, with sideways glances, fussing with the music and Rachel's feigned indifference and sophistication while wielding a cigarette. Anyone who's ever spent time in a bar as a young person interested in a romantic partner (or hell, anyone who's ever been young) will recognize this dance. Deep in the recesses of my less-young memory is a rumor I recall reading some time ago that Tiffany and Rachel had actually been real-life lovers at some point, which may account for the natural and easy chemistry between them in this scene.

At any rate, Rachel reveals in this scene that her mother will be stopping by shortly to pick her up. This provokes an incredulous response from Tiffany but Rachel blithely assures her that her mom "knows" and that there's no father around…

Not long after that, the matriarch of the House of Shame makes her entrance, slave girl in tow and - the bitch is back! It's a compliment to everyone in the scene how a pall literally falls over the entire bar when Cindy makes her entrance. Only Rachel, by grand and youthful effort, manages to remain as she was - smoking her cigarette with nonchalance, eyes on Tiffany. Cindy installs herself as well as Mara, her slave girl in a booth and demands some water from the young bartender.

Clearly, this dominant, feminine lesbian and her younger companion are more than Tiffany was prepared for. She regards the mother and daughter (and save) with equal parts fascination and wariness. Rachel takes the opportunity to sidle over to her mother and ask if she might be allowed to "keep" the voluptuous bartender. Cindy eyes her daughter's prospective conquest appraisingly for a while, which causes Mara to squirm with jealousy. The slave girl soon snuggles up to her mistress and whispers in her ear. We of course, are not privy to the whispered suggestion but not long after, Mara kneels between her mistress's legs and buries her head underneath Cindy's skirt while Tiffany looks on. Rachel looks askance at her mother and then away.

For those of you keeping track at home, a mother has just walked into a bar where her daughter is trying to "make time" with a hot young bartender, interrupts the scene and causes a scene of her own by allowing her own slave girl to pleasure her underneath the table. From the mind of Div For'e to your screen…

And with that one provocative act, Tiffany is drawn, in spite of herself, right over to the table and into Cindy and Rachel's web - into the House of Shame. Before long she is kissing Cindy's hand and being felt up by both Rachel and her mother, right there in the booth. That, my friends, is the first 45 minutes of Rachel's Slave. I'll leave the rest of this 2-hour movie for you to discover but I'll warn you - it may not go where you expect it to. We do hear Rachel and her new lover reaching orgasm and we do see an extremely sensual sex scene between Mara and Cindy but it's not all quite as we might imagine it will be when they're all still there in the bar together, walking the very fine line between perverse and utterly taboo.

Since my last dispatch here, twilightwomen has updated all three of their major series with new titles, so it seemed fitting to do a brief recap.

Lesbian Seduction

Lesbian Seduction Part 17 - The Bedroom: I was pretty excited about the last two LS releases (Depraved Desires & Depraved Desires Part 2), but The Bedroom is a screen-searing, passionate work of beauty not to be missed by fans of Ann Ampar and Robin Joy. A brief note of interest: unlike most Lesbian Seduction movies, The Bedroom takes place almost completely.....in bed, and as such, both Ann and Robin are nude from the beginning of the movie on. Long-time viewers: the beginning sequence of The Bedroom may be familiar. For a couple of years TW has been promising to take the ending scene of Lazy Afternoon and place it in its own complete movie. So they have and I'm glad to say it was worth the wait.

Lesbian Seduction Part 18 - The Bedroom Part 2: As usual with TW's two-part releases, the action in this movie picks up exactly where it left off in The Bedroom. As I mentioned previously, the LS series seems to be in the middle of its "depraved period". After four rather intimate and sweet movies, Parts 15-18 have seen a return to the more extreme sexual use of Ann by Robin that we saw at the beginning of the series. Just when you think Robin has wrung from Ann all the pleasure she's capable of and Ann seems beyond the point of exhaustion, grateful for a respite.....the story continues.

House of Shame

House of Shame Part 9 - While the Cat's Away: Cindy, the mistress of the house has taken Rachel, her daughter overseas on vacation, leaving the two sex slaves behind. That sounds like a fairly predictable set-up, right? But this is a Div For'e movie and therefore considerably exceeds whatever you or I might have rattling around in our imagination. This naughty episode in the series begins with a perverse little twist: Mara is wandering around a playground, dressed to emphasize her youth and innocence while Tiffany, Rachel's slave, lurks on the perimeter, in full leather-dyke regalia. I love this beginning and the rest of the movie does not disappoint. It really is a Div For'e classic. Despite the obvious positioning of cat and mouse that their costumes and actions suggest, the careful observer can't help but wonder if it's really Mara who is luring Tiffany into her role as seducer.

House of Shame Part 10 - Cindy's Bed: Continuing on from Part 9, after bringing Mara back to the House of Shame, Tiffany has managed to soften her up considerably by pampering her through a luxurious bath, and attention to her lotion, make-up and hair. Despite Mara's obvious reticence to betray her absent mistress, she continues further down the path of seduction with Tiffany. In her mistress's bed, no less, Mara and Tiffany finally succumb and the result is Mara's most sexually engaged and orgasmic performances so far. But afterwards, guilt sets in.

Beyond Twilight

Les Vampires - Monique's Story Part 6: Finally, the powers that be at TW must have heard my plea because they completed this particularly dramatic section of Monique's Story. After revealing her true nature to Emily, Kathy brought all her intensity to bear on pleasuring the young innocent's body while Monique watched. Eventually, the movie became an all-out blood orgy and a bonding experience for Monique and Kathy. My main question was: would Emily survive the onslaught? Surely, I thought, this will be the end of her character (a shame because she is not only a real beauty but quite believable in her role as "the prey"). Things didn't look good for her but I had to wait until the next movie to find out.

Les Vampires - Monique's Story Part 7: After the storm of blood-lust is over, Kathy leads Monique off to the shower to wash the carnal evidence away. It's a lovely, tender scene which Div For'e uses primarily as a vehicle to admire their nude bodies with particular attention paid, as always, to the legs. Eventually we discover that Emily has survived and wants something from the other two women. Now that she's been made into a vampire, Emily begs not to be left behind. The reaction of the two older vampires and the intimate scene that follows suggests that perhaps this trio will now dominate the story as it continues.

Sunbathing

Over in the House of Shame series, TW has been focusing on the development of the relationship between Mara and Tiffany. We learned in Part Nine - While the Cat's Away, that Cindy and Rachel had gone away on an extended vacation to celebrate Rachel's graduation. Left at home to tend to the House, Mara had only Tiffany, Rachel's slave, around for companionship. In Part Nine and continuing through Part Ten - Cindy's Bed, Tiffany patiently and deliberately seduced Mara into an affair. It will be fascinating to see what happens in Part Eleven but for now, I thought this would be a good time to take a closer look at another Mara and Tiffany movie, Sunbathing.

Sunbathing is a movie in the HOS series, completed a few year ago, that has not yet been assigned a part number in the series. Recent events in the series give us some back story on the relationship between Mara and Tiffany but even without the context, Sunbathing is a lovely little (1 hr. and 14 min.) vignette.

The movie begins with Mara laying out her towel on a lawn, undressing and applying sunscreen. Soon Tiffany joins her, with some initial hesitation, in undressing and rubbing sunscreen all over. Pretty standard, but it's a nice chance to admire the girls' bodies in a new context. Sunbathing is shot entirely outdoors in bright sunlight, which does create some shadows but the bright colors of the movie are what stand out for me. The grass seems incredibly green and the pinks and blues of the towel are vivid. Mara's white, creamy skin contrasts beautifully with her black hair. I enjoyed just watching these two familiar actresses in an unfamiliar setting...simple pleasures.

As Mara and Tiffany lie next to one another, soaking up the sun, somehow - in that unmistakable twilightwomen way - tension starts to mount. It's hard to even articulate how it happens but between the subtle shifts in body position and a few sidelong glances, it becomes clear that there is more at work here than simple sun-worship.

Eventually, the ice is broken when the girls start to tease each other with the spray-bottles full of water that they've brought along. This is a charming, playful scene - and one of the only times I've ever seen Mara grin with real delight. Perhaps the more lighthearted Tiffany can provide some balance to Mara's intense relationship with Cindy.

Soon the girls move from spraying each other with water to squirting one another with their bottles of baby oil. Of course this results in the two lovelies glistening and slippery with oil. As their play runs out of steam, the mood turns a bit more serious and the seduction that we have begun to suspect was in the back of Tiffany's mind all along is underway.

I won't ruin the rest of the movie for you with narration but it is incredibly sexy and one of the most explicit scenes with Mara in any movie. Fans and close followers of Mara's movies with TW will enjoy seeing her obvious pleasure here. Also, this a great movie for those who enjoy size contrast in lesbian sex scenes - as Mara and Tiffany have very different body types. From there, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves... And I'll try not to stay away so long next time.

Depraved Desires

You will perhaps forgive my absence when you feast your eyes on the display below.

I've been looking forward to talking here about one of the most recently completed TW movies - Depraved Desires.

Depraved Desires is Part Fifteen in the Lesbian Seduction series and it is followed by its sequel, Depraved Desires Part Two. (Director, Div For'e, tends to make these 2-part movies and one can only be glad that he chose not to leave too much on the proverbial cutting room floor.) According to the TW site, DD seems to kick off a new period in the series in which "Ann and Robin begin a long journey into depravity, including exhibitionism, costumes, role-play, whipping and more lustful sexual exchange than ever before." I can get behind this journey.

The movie begins with the luminous Ann Ampar stretched out, totally naked, on a rug in front of a fireplace. From a chair across the room, Robin Joy watches her with cold detachment. This entire opening sequence of the movie will especially delight Ann Ampar fans as she rolls around on the rug, stretching languidly and teasing her mistress with the ever-changing vista of her lithe body. Div For'e's camera also captures some perfect face close-ups, lovely enough to be still portraits.

There are also some really nice shots of Robin Joy, whose piercing blue eyes belie the brooding lust just below her apparent disinterest. As usual, just being under Robin's gaze seems to excite Ann sexually and her unsophisticated delight and engagement in the moment is a joy as well as a turn-on. Eventually, both women begins to touch themselves as they watch one another.

As if following some unspoken command, Ann rises from her position and leaves the room, returning with a maid's costume in hand which she proceeds to slip on while Robin continues to watch. Uncertain now about what is in store for her, Ann turns away and Robin moves across the room to join her on the floor.

In this transition, the mood undergoes a perceptible shift. As Robin approaches Ann from behind, Ann is all anticipation and nerves. This connection - the ability of Robin to instantly bring Ann under her dominance, and in doing so cause the spark of sexual tension between them to really ignite - is at the heart of the Lesbian Seduction series. Even in this, the fifteenth movie in the series, the dynamic between Ann and Robin is fresh.

Robin strokes her hands down the back of Ann's body, whispering in her ear. Ann begins to writhe against the rug beneath her. Robin produces a short-tailed whip and begins trailing it down Ann's back and legs. This tease reaches an unbearable pitch and Robin begins to whip Ann, building the intensity until it begins to call to mind the relentless spanking of Massage - Ann and Robin's first encounter. It's a release equal to the excruciating build-up that preceded it.

After Ann reaches her ultimate tolerance and curls in on herself, wrapping around Robin's legs, the movie moves toward its end with passionate kissing.

Though it's difficult to imagine how a movie with such a complete physical and emotional arc could possibly continue into a Part Two, it does. And we will take a look at it soon.

Franco and Leone: Too Much Imagination!

I've referred to my love of Jess Franco films before. Recently, I was watching the extras on the DVD release of Franco's film Cecilia. There was a wonderful interview with Franco about the period of time in which he was making Cecilia. I wish I could show it it you here - I always enjoy interviews with Franco. He's an incredibly prolific director, a true lover of film (and women), an iconoclast.

In this interview he talked about the permissive cultural atmosphere of his artistic circles in 1970's Portugal, Paris and Rome - the nightly, drug-fueled sex parties and pervasive LSD experimentation. My favorite part came when he explained his personal distaste for LSD. This distaste was based not on some misguided puritanism (he was aghast at the idea!) but was because he had, as he explained, always labored under the burden of too much imagination. Acid only served to disrupt and de-focus his already perverse and fertile imagination. He needed to be able to focus his flights of fantasy, he explained, not further distort them.

And then my day was made when Franco went on to say that he'd known another fellow artist during that time who felt the same way about artistic imagination and hallucinogenic drug use - none other than Sergio Leone! He followed with some very sweet praise for the incredible talent and vision of his friend, Leone. I'd had no idea the two were friendly and I love the idea of them - both wildly talented and dedicated directors, albeit of very different films - commiserating on the benefits and burdens of an overactive imagination!

I would not say that Cecilia is one of Franco's greatest works but it's worth a viewing and in my estimation, the DVD is worth it for the interview alone. I leave you with a couple of Franco interviews - not from Cecilia but entertaining just the same - and some links for further reading.

The Room at the Bottom of the Stairs (Part Two)

The Room at the Bottom of the Stairs continues as Cindy suddenly gets up from the bed and walks over to her desk. She reaches into a desk drawer and pulls out a small video camera and begins taping Mara and Rachel.

Mara and Rachel continue their show, touching themselves and teasing each other and Cindy - the camera now adding an extra element of naughtiness and exhibitionism.

This section of the movie, with Mara on the floor, is the most flattering of her. Her red lipstick contrasts beautifully with her black hair and white skin and she seems almost in a dream state, delicate, ethereal, remote. Meanwhile, Rachel is almost her opposite: tan, athletic, totally engaged with the camera.

The director, Div For'e, switches back and forth between the two as Cindy looks on. The viewer falls easily into a reverie watching the dual performances. Somehow the contrast between Mara's languid, almost unwilling masturbation and Rachel's straightforward, comfortable exploration of her own body is erotic in unexpected ways. Two very different women are exposed and sexual in the same room, separate from one another yet connected in a forbidden way.

For let's not forget - Mara is Cindy's slave girl and Rachel is Cindy's daughter. Throughout the rest of the movie, none of the women touch each other - only themselves, but the overlapping exhibition and voyeurism bring the sexual spheres provocatively close together.

Mara moves from the floor to the couch as she continues her show. Rachel takes her place on the floor and begins to really heat up. Cindy abandons the camera and moves back to the bed. Soon, all three women are racing toward climax, with Rachel's orgasm being - without a doubt - one of the most exciting on-screen climaxes I've ever seen.

In the final moments of the movie, in true twilightwomen fashion, the drama continues: Cindy sits up and nervously smooths her hair and clothing, Rachel rises abruptly and dresses, Mara, looking bemused, rises as well. What will be the implications of the this encounter?

The Room at the Bottom of the Stairs (Part One)

I took a New Year's look around this place and realized I've been giving the House of Shame series short shrift. Well, that's getting fixed right now. In my series overview, I briefly recapped the first movie in the series, Prologue & Introduction.

Part Two in the HOS series is The Room at the Bottom of the Stairs, so named for the bedroom of Cindy, the mistress of the House. Cindy's bedroom, on the lower level of her house, is the room - we are given to understand - of ultimate debauchery. The movie opens with a sort of prelude... Mara, Cindy's new slave, is seated at the dining room table, sullenly eyeing her mistress who stands in the foreground. (This is a great shot - it's like a lesbian pulp cover from the 50's come to life!)

Cindy descends the stairs and Mara soon follows... the looks they give one another alone cause the tension to rise precipitously. All of sudden, Cindy ambushes Mara on the landing, kissing her new slave almost violently and feeling her up over her sweater. It's a naughty continuation of the theme established in Part One - Mara's resistance overcome by Cindy's erotic domination. The two lovers continue downstairs to Cindy's room.

Once there, the scene changes and the themes of this particular installment to the series emerge: exhibitionism and voyeurism. Cindy reclines on her bed and watches unabashedly as Mara, showered and in a new outfit, very slowly begins to perform a (somewhat) unwilling striptease. Dressed all in black, with dark red lipstick, Mara is a pouty, reluctant, shy performer. Cindy can't take her eyes off the girl. Turning this kinky scene into a perverse and forbidden erotic encounter is the sudden entrance of Rachel, Cindy's daughter.

Cindy at first appears caught off guard by the appearance of her daughter in the room, but after a stern look - which Rachel returns with complete diffidence - she resumes watching her lover... as does Rachel.

It's not long before Rachel is not only watching Mara's performance, but putting on a show herself. As Mara moves from the couch to the floor, shedding clothes until she is completely nude, Rachel and Cindy - both fully clothed - begin to touch themselves. Mara becomes a voyeur as well, watching languidly as Rachel slowly begins to remove clothing.

By the time Rachel is reclining in a chair in her bra and panties, caressing her athletic legs, Mara is running a long-tailed whip slowly over her nude body and masturbating. Cindy appears both riveted with lust and frozen with uncertainty in equal measure. Soon, lust at the double-feature playing out before her eyes, overcomes her inhibition and she resumes touching herself.....

Bonded

Following Kings X in the Lesbian Seduction series is Bonded. It picks up more or less where Kings X left off... Ann and Robin have come back to Robin's house and gone upstairs. As Bonded opens, they are on the couch, fully dressed, kissing. An innocuous beginning that gives little hint of the perversity to come in the movie.

Bonded is also the other of only two movies in the series to feature Marie as Ann and Robin's co-star. Marie played an important but rather minor role in Kings X as Robin's bait to lure Ann into her twisted game of seduction. In Bonded, Marie joins Ann in submission to Robin and all three women are brought closer together.

Close observers and TW fans will have noticed that movies seem to fall into one of two categories with regard to time; in some movies there is a straight linear progression with all the action taking place in one clear time frame. In other movies, much "plot" time passes within the confines of the two hour movie, often to show development in the relationship between two characters. Bonded is one of the latter. It's also a highly erotic, sexually perverse wild ride. Along with the expected passionate kissing and caressing between Anna and Robin, Bonded features face-licking, whipping, costumes, oral sex, threesome, spanking and much attention paid to the hindquarters of the lovely Ann Ampar.

For some reason, I think Bonded tends to get lost in the middle of the Lesbian Seduction series, but it's a sexy, worthwhile chapter in the erotic journey of Ann and Robin.

Boots

A few months ago, we took a long look at one of my all-time favorite twilightwomen scenes: 50's Beat Movie - Scene One, with Ann Ampar and Heather. So far, Heather has only appeared in one other TW scene on the site - a Selected Scene called Boots.

While I wouldn't say that Boots is one of my favorite scenes, it's worth noting as the only other pairing of Ann and Heather, who I think have a nice, sexy dynamic together that is also quite different from the dynamic between Ann and Robin or Ann and Monique. It's fun to see TW's star performer, Ann Ampar, in a bit of a different light. In a way, I'd say it's actually as though she's out of character, or perhaps playing a different character than who she is in the Lesbian Seduction series.

As most Selected Scenes do, Boots starts with no preliminary build-up or explanation or dialog. We have to surmise from the outfits and body language and action of the performers what the situation is. This usually works (in my opinion due largely to the deft directorial hand of Div For'e) and so it's established pretty quickly that Ann's character is a confident, slightly imperious, buttoned-up woman. In a long shirt dress and boots, with her hair in a tight bun, Ann looks a bit like a dance teacher or a librarian. (Ok, with those classic Ann glasses, let's go with sexy librarian.)

When we first see Heather, she is wearing only panties with a long-sleeved top, though she too has boots on. (Boot-lovers perk up: both women keep their shoes on throughout this entire scene, a conceit I always love as it adds a sense of lusty urgency to a scene.) Heather is a little more punk-y looking here and her demeanor towards Ann is slightly submissive - adoring yet uncertain. Again, it's fun to see Ann have the upper hand and be "serviced" by another woman for a change.

Though Boots is not a hardcore scene, it is a fantasia of nudity and sex acts. Les Vampires - Monique's Story - Round Two

Having just watched the beginning of the latest installment in Monique's Story, I'm primed to continue the review of her storyline in twilightwomen's Les Vampires series. Last week we looked back at Monique's Story - Parts One, Two and Three. Here is a look at the next three, bringing us current with that storyline (which has really heated up recently). Enjoy!

Monique's Story - Part Four

In Part Four of Monique's Story, we return to the bar that was the site of Kathy and Monique's first meeting in Part One. Many of the same characters are there, as well as the same sense of uncertainty and anticipation. (That sense is actually one of my favorite things about bar scenes in general, but particularly in lesbian-themed movies. When done well, the bar becomes almost an additional character and helps to create a delicious sense of tension and possibility.)

As the regular crowd watches, two sexy newcomers - a brunette and a redhead - dance song after song, until they command the attention of nearly everyone there. Monique is intensely attracted to the more petite of the two and asks around about her. The newly confident and predatory Monique has clearly achieved a new status in the social order of the bar the old crowd seems to adjust around her as she plans her seduction. Finally, Monique and a male friend cut in to the pas de deux and Monique has her chance.

Emily leaves with Monique and the following seduction back at Monique's place is one of the most steamy in TW history. Emily is naturally sultry and Monique is almost beside herself with lust. Their dance promises to continue in the next movie.

Monique's Story - Part Five

Monique's seduction of Emily continues and well, it's hard to really do it justice. This is a beautiful, complex movie, and it advances the plot of the storyline considerably. All three women really shine in this one. Monique has an elegant, confident bearing that was missing in the first several movies of her story - which says a lot for both her performance and direction of the story arc. Every move Emily makes is lovely to watch. But mostly, they are both so focused on each other, it's electric. It's like there is an invisible thread connecting them and it never gets cut.

The beginning of the movie is endless flirting, kissing, touching, dancing, playing and exploring. You get the sense of time passing in the way a whole day flies by in real life when you are at the beginning of a new love affair and nothing else exists but the new object of your affection. In this movie, we all get to be observers of that infatuation-fueled tunnel-vision.

Until, Kathy returns home and interrupts their idyll. For all the Monique has changed and grown, Kathy is still unmistakably the more powerful of the two and when she comes home, she owns the place. Emily notices immediately and Monique is suddenly shunted to second place.

Lesbian vampire psychodrama ensues. Monique, suddenly tearful, begs Kathy not to take Emily from her. Emily only has eyes for Kathy. Kathy asserts her dominance.

Time passes again, and Emily lies on a bed in a feverish dream of women and bloodlust. Another significant marker occurs in Monique's journey as Kathy helps her accept her new vampire teeth. Slowly it becomes clear that while Kathy will always be dominant, she loves Monique and wants her loyalty.

But Monique, eager to posses what was almost hers, wounds Kathy deeply when she asks to have Emily back. Kathy agrees and hands over the innocent girl, but is bitterly hurt. Monique, high on the fresh, innocent blood, barely notices or cares.

Monique's Story - Part Six

twilightwomen has just started releasing the beginning of this movie, so only the first 15 minutes or so is available on the site at th moment, but wow, is it a dramatic opening.

The movie opens with a very sexy, nearly nude Emily in bed when Kathy walks into the room in a night shirt. She sits down on the bed, fixes Emily with an intense look and leads into a searing condemnation of human society with the words, "I am a vampire."

In a bid for mercy or deliverance - it's hard to say which - Emily comes on to Kathy. Monique enters the room and watches, touching herself, while Kathy ministers to Emily's lithe, now naked body.......

Oh, twilightwomen.

Les Vampires - Monique's Story

I've discussed previously the Beyond Twilight section of twilightwomen.com, including their series of lesbian Vampire movies. The Les Vampires series is a very erotic, R-rated psychodrama involving a large cast of beautiful, sexy women who share "a burden, a hunger and a need for one another". Within the series are different "storylines" - a group of full-length movies that primarily follow the development of a particular character. Currently, there are six full-length movies that follow Monique's Story, so I thought a recap might be in order.

Monique's Story - Part One

In a crowded Bay Area barroom, a congenial group of twenty- and thirty-somethings drink, smoke, flirt, laugh, and scope out new prospects. Eventually, it becomes clear that there is an undercurrent of anxiety and anticipation in the crowd, and that some members of this cadre appear to be waiting for news of some sort.

The social intercourse is disrupted when Kathy, a mysterious and compelling stranger shows up, sweeping in and enveloping many in a warm embrace and sympathetic ear. Monique is immediately captivated by this new arrival and begins scheming covertly to draw her attention and get a moment alone. In a heartless rebuff of her current lover, Laurel, Monique comes on to Kathy and the two leave together.

Once alone together, the seduction begins with a casual yet intense Kathy forcing Monique to do most of the pursuing. Lust eventually overcomes the game and Monique has her first taste of Kathy's unusual and dangerous proclivity.

Monique's Story - Part Two

Kathy and Monique, having become lovers, share a tender moment at the beginning of the movie, but their idyll is disrupted by a phone call from someone from Kathy's past. Grudgingly, Monique accompanies Kathy to the meeting. While Monique waits nearby, Kathy warmly greets the nubile and doe-eyed young woman. When Kathy excuses herself from their reunion to check on Monique, she finds her new lover furious, jealous and hurt. But Kathy won't be denied the young flesh and insists on the assignation. Stunned and devastated, Monique wanders to the home of her former lover, Laurel.

Meanwhile, Kathy takes her young lover back to the apartment and ravishes her in an erotic bloodletting. At Laurel's house, Monique finds her former lover in bed with another woman.

Monique's Story - Part Three

Part Three opens with Monique enduring a brutal drug detox under Kathy's care. Their relationship has progressed and their bond deepens through the ordeal. Time passes and Monique changes both physically and emotionally, becoming more dignified, confident and sleek. She makes her first solo kill as a new vampire and Kathy comforts her in the conflicted aftermath.

By contrast, we get a glimpse of Monique's former life through Laurel, her ex-girlfriend. In a haze of drug use and debauchery, Laurel passes the time with her new lover, Rose. In her newly confident state, Monique returns to Laurel's home one day, seeking closure and perhaps revenge for the previous rebuff. Laurel immediately senses the change and is powerfully attracted. She suggests a reunion in a sauna. The meeting is charged with erotic tension as the two women are drawn to each other for different reasons. Monique feeds from her former lover in an erotic frenzy that finally, goes too far.

In the aftermath, Monique lashes out at Kathy, angry at the responsibility and burden thrust upon her by her new hungers. Patient and loving, Kathy comforts Monique and soothes her in a languid and sensual entanglement on their couch.

Lina Romay (a twilight woman in spirit)

Sometimes, you just have one of those days. And then you see something unexpected that lifts your spirits. I just checked in at Robert Monell's incomparable blog, I'm in a Jess Franco State of Mind (which you should do right away if you've never visited), and the beguiling Lina Romay immediately turned my day around.

Lina Romay is the Spanish cult and horror film actress and lifetime companion of prolific director Jesus (Jess) Franco. From the early 1970's onward, Romay threw herself with enthusiasm into roles in over a hundred Franco films, as well as contributing to his productions as a writer, producer, editor and technician.

Reputed to be a warm, quiet-spoken, self-effacing person in real life, on-screen Romay exhibits a bold and uninhibited sexual presence and a dramatic, sometimes haughty carriage. She commands attention in a way that reminds me a bit of a cross between twilightwomen's Ann Ampar and Cindy (please imagine!).

My favorite Lina Romay film is definitely Female Vampire - the subject of a Robert Monell post from a couple of weeks ago. Also known as La Comtesse Noir, The Bare Breasted Countess, Erotic Kill, Les Avaleuses and a number of other titles, Female Vampire is a sometimes funny, sometimes campy, sometimes touching and very erotic Franco film. It's been hacked up quite a bit through its releases in various countries with differing ideas about what lines are acceptable to cross regarding celluloid sexuality - as is the case with many erotic cult movies. But the erotic adventures, malaise and delights of Countess Irina (Romay circa 1974) are a pleasure to watch no matter which edit you can get your hands on.

In fact, I'd watch just about any Jess Franco film put in front of me - but especially the ones with Lina Romay. She's had some very sexy, sapphic scenes, as well as some wonderful vampyric roles over the years. I can only imagine the delights if somehow, someway - Div For'e, twilightwomen's director, had been working in the 1970's and could have cast Lina in one of his movies. A guy can dream...

Preview: Slow Burn

This is Part Twelve in the Lesbian Seduction series and continues what I referred to previously as the "romantic period" in the series. In fact, it seems to conclude the "romantic" movement because TW is currently moving, with Depraved Desires, into a much more raunchy and debauched period. Spotlight: Cindy

In the next few weeks I'm going to be telling you about the newest Lesbian Seduction movie from twilightwomen; Depraved Desires. Four words til then: Ann Ampar and multiple orgasms.

First, though, the perfect appetizer to that entree is Reward, a short, half-hour Selected Scene from 2006. It was put up on the site, it would seem as a sort of teaser for what was to come in the Lesbian Seduction series, as the relationship between Ann and Robin became increasingly debauched.

Reward opens mid-action as Ann is being flogged by Robin and enjoying every moment. It's a very heated scene between the two, with some great deep kissing and breast worship, and a rare appearance of Robin's strap-on. Ok, I'm back and I have a sensual and lovely sapphic scene to tell you about: Secret.

We haven't spent much time yet on Gena and Tosha - two performers who have important roles in the House of Shame series. The website tells us only that they are "a student out for thrills" and "her friend who comes along". However, the Selected Scenes section of twilightwomen.com is chock full of Gena and Tosha. They almost always appear together and are extremely enthusiastic lovers - especially with one another. They also appear often with Katja and Cindy - often providing what appears to be irresistible temptation for Katja under Cindy's stern eye.

Gena and Tosha have also been in the co-stars of one full-length House of Shame movie so far; Girlfriends - a relentless (yet somehow adorable) extravaganza of lesbian sex. But we'll come back to that one. Today, let's take a closer look at probably my favorite Gena and Tosha scene - Secret.

This beautifully shot, nicely paced 55-minute scene is a great example of twilightwomen's strength at making incredibly sexy, passionate *nearly silent* sex scenes. I say *nearly* silent because of course we hear the breaths, sighs, kisses and moans of the sexual encounter but otherwise there is no dialog. In fact, this is a very intimate scene - shot almost entirely close-in to the performers. It's almost possible to feel the connection between the two women. In this way, Secret is the antithesis of an over-directed porno-fabulous girl-girl scene. And that's the why we love it.

Slip

We interrupt this Ann Ampar and Robin Joy festival to call your attention to another twilightwomen couple: Katja and Rachel.

So far, we've only seen Katja and Rachel together in Selected Scenes. The site tells us that Katja has a key role later in the House of Shame but we've gotten a sneak peek at her character via a handful of Selected Scenes, including three with Rachel. Slip is the most recent of the three.

As with most Selected Scenes, Slip opens "mid-scene", with the sexual activity already begun. Katja is dressed in a satin slip and is laying on a rug in front of a fire. Rachel, wearing an oversized satin shirt is seated on a couch facing Katja. Both are slowly and leisurely touching themselves.

Katja exhibits a certain seductive, feminine quality - a slightly pouty, sensual come-on that permeates every scene she's in. She is lovely in this scene and Rachel clearly can't take her eyes off her. Slowly, Rachel slides off the couch to the floor until the two are almost touching. The mutual masturbation becomes more excited, as though both are increasingly turned on by the close proximity.

There's an obvious chemistry between these two but I'm always left with the lingering impression, after watching their scenes together, that Rachel is not quite sure what to do with Katja. Rachel always makes love to Katja thoroughly and it's beautiful to look at but there's almost a timid or shy quality to her underlying the scene. Does anyone else see this or is it just me?

The point in the scene at which the two women begin to touch each other is elegantly filmed and a lush unfolding of lesbian erotica to behold. The bodies are lovely and the scene soon unfolds into a cornucopia of sapphic acts; kissing touching, rubbing, licking, caressing, etc.

Eventually, they rise from the floor and stumble, entangled, to the bed where Katja wraps herself around Rachel, begging for satisfaction. There is some rare dialog in this part of the movie - so listen closely. This is also one of the few twilightwomen scenes that involves a dildo as well as some explicit shots. Katja gets everything she wants.....almost.

A Few of My Favorite Things: Bruised Bottom

For fans of pin-up modeling and photography, solo girl masturbation or simply Ann Ampar - Bruised Bottom is a present tied up in a lovely brunette bow.

According to the twilightwomen site, the movie went up on the site almost exactly four years ago. It's another one of my go-to TW movies - a favorite I enjoy like new each time I see it. For one thing, this is an Ann Ampar masterpiece. I'll be forever grateful that the TW folks had the good sense to give the beautiful AA a few solo movies to show off her stuff without any distractions. AA is really in a class by herself.

Bruised Bottom starts off with Ann seated on a bed, dressed in a dramatic, retro skirt suit, nylons and heels and velvet opera gloves, her gaze downcast. As always, Div For'e's camera lovingly admires her from every angle, as she slowly tucks her legs up and begins a slow flirtation with the camera / viewer.

The boxy suit jacket comes off to reveal a very sexy black bra that highlights her small breasts. With an uninterrupted elegance, Ann poses demurely, the opera gloves adding an unusual retro flourish to the picture. Watching this elegant beauty roll around on the bed, looking seductively over her shoulder and stretch her nylon-clad legs languorously is somehow more erotic than countless other more explicit scenes.

The movie clocks in at just over an hour and in that time, the pace of the solo seduction gradually increases. Stockings are unhooked from garters and rolled down, improbable nipple clamps come out and are applied by Ann herself who becomes obviously aroused by the experience. The red pencil skirt is removed and Ann masturbates to orgasm with the opera gloves still on.

A final, unexpected twist comes at the end of the movie when Ann removes her garter belt and is whipped soundly with it by a disembodies hand - presumably that of Div For'e. As she writhes in pleasure, the reason for the name of the movie is revealed. Her obvious delight and pleasure in the final turn of events is so evident and unrehearsed that it's enough to push any AA fan right over the edge.

Love and Kisses

I never tire of these two. The Lesbian Seduction series has grown to include 15 full-length movies at this point. I realized recently that the careful follower can actually track several different "movements" or periods within the series. For me, the breakdown is in groups of four. Massage and the Dungeon trilogy comprise the first movement of the series. Ann and Robin meet and Ann is severely physically tested. The second movement is Kings X through Taking Pictures. In this section, Robin challenges Ann with another woman and their bond proves strong enough to withstand various other erotic games. The third movement begins with Part Nine - Love and Kisses and continues through the most recent Part Twelve - Slow Burn.

I think of this third section as the "romantic period". The two women trust one another more and have developed true affection in addition to their lust for one another. Love and Kisses is the perfect opener for this period. The movie is divided into two parts. It begins with Ann and Robin on the bed in Robin's house, fully clothed. Their looks and light, teasing touches are electric. Robin pleasures Ann and gets so turned on in the process she can't help but get off. It's an extremely erotic lesbian sex scene.

In the second half of the movie, Robin watches Ann in the mirror as she applies makeup and puts up her hair. Robin gives more away with her eyes as she watches her lover than any dialog could provide. Ann goes to lay on the couch and Robin sits nearby and they interact playfully for a while before Robin begins to tenderly kiss Ann. As she moves down Ann's body, the camera captures some beautiful shots of the lovely submissive. After enjoying the development of their relationship for eight movies previously, Love and Kisses is a lovely, erotic transition to a more intimate phase of their time together.

Spotlight: Mara

The House of Shame series is primarily a story of four characters; a mother, her daughter and their respective slaves. We're told on the twilightwomen site that the House of Shame belongs to Cindy, that her daughter Rachel lives there sometimes, and that they both bring their lovers and live-in slaves into the house for erotic debauchery. Cindy's slave, Mara and Rachel's slave, Tiffany are given equal billing as ongoing, main characters in the series.

But if the Lesbian Seduction series is defined by the relationship between Ann and Robin, then for me the House of Shame series is defined by erotic D/s relationship between Cindy and Mara. And while Cindy is the mistress of the house and unquestionably the one in charge, it's clear (and we're even told this in the opening titles of Part 1: Prologue and Introduction) that Mara is Cindy's weakness.

It is Mara's recalcitrant, unwilling nature that pushes Cindy to a grim resolve to punish and dominate. It is Mara's cold beauty and pliable, feminine body that compels Cindy forward with lust, deeper into the relationship. Mara embodies Cindy's deepest desires and her vision for what the House of Shame can be. But who is Mara?

So far, we've never gotten a close look at Mara's motivations. And unlike Ann Ampar, whose performance is so often exterior and inclusive of the viewer, Mara always seems deeply internal, holding back. Indeed, it's part of what makes her character so compelling: she is in an almost constant state of withdraw - impelling to viewer, and Cindy as well, to reach out towards her, to seduce and possess her.

I'm very curious to see what is in store for Mara as the series continues to unfold. Just this month, we've been given a glimpse on twilightwomen.com of a new plot development; the budding relationship between Mara and Tiffany, Rachel's slave. So far the movie, While the Cat's Away, has been full of tension and reluctance - setting the stage for passion when the seduction finally overcomes the hopeless resistance.

50's Beat Movie

Straight from the mind of Div For'e, Scene One from twilightwomen's Fifties Beat Movie is a simple, sensual, evocative masterpiece of lesbian erotica.

One of the first scenes to show up on the twilightwomen site, this is a beautiful 42-minute throwback to a previous era. The luminous Ann Ampar and newcomer, Heather are dressed in pencil skirts, snug white blouses, stockings and heels. We find them laying in the "spoon" position in front of a fire.

In the first half of the scene Heather perfectly embodies the passive, reluctant "seductee", lying still with her eyes closed as Ann leans over her shoulder, breathing into her ear, gently caressing her shoulder. The position of the women is perfect for seeing Ann's ministrations as well as Heather's reactions. At one point Heather opens her eyes as Ann kisses her neck, providing a striking portrait of the seduction in progress.

Part of the success of the scene is due to the restrained nature of the movements and action. This is the kind of scene that could never be executed by mainstream porno companies. Everything about it breaks all the accepted rules for an erotic encounter on film. It's painfully, deliciously slow. And it is just this slowness that drives the erotic tension up to a fevered pitch for the viewer. So many of us can recall (or perhaps wish we could) an encounter like this - clandestine, forbidden, uncertain of the outcome, unsure how far we'll be allowed to pursue our desires. This uncertainty is what gives the encounter its drama.

Take that feeling and compare it to what can commonly be seen in "adult films". The premise is completely different. Professional adult actors show up with the express agreement that explicit sex will be taking place, within an agreed upon framework and within an expected timeframe. That's fine and has its place but a movie or a scene like that will never - could never - embody the tension of not knowing just what (and how and when) will happen.

As the scene with Ann and Heather progresses, necks are kissed, hands are clutched, breasts are caressed over sweaters, hands slide under skirts to unhook garters (oh, garters…). The expressions on their faces show a range of emotion - from uncertainty and fear to lust and overwhelmed desire.

There's so much I could say about this scene. It's a delight to watch the women and feel that they are women you could know, girls like those you dated in school - or wanted to. And their outfits are so sexily reminiscent of a past era. Just seeing their stockinged feet in high heels move across the floor as they writhe against one another is excruciatingly feminine. But I'll let the images do the talking from here.

Needless to say, this is one of my favorites.

Div For'e: The Man Behind the Movies

Not much is known about Div For'e, the director of all the movies on twilightwomen.com. The site itself reveals next to nothing about the director, but a bit of seaching turns up Div For'e's MySpace page. This provides an interesting glimpse at the man behind the movies and some of his influences.

Devoid of much in the way of self-promotion, instead Div For'e's MySpace page provides some sense of what - and who - is important to the director. Situated conspicuously outside the milieu of the San Fernando Valley's "pornoland", the space reveals a director whose favorite films are Shane, Chushingura, Once Upon a Time in the West and Night of the Hunter. A deep appreciation for the work of the great composer Ennio Morricone is in evidence, along with a tip of the hat to the likes of Sergio Leone, George Stevens and Terrence Malick, but also Spanish exploitation director Jess Franco and of course, Joseph Sarno.

Further sleuthing turned up a couple of interviews that various bloggers have conducted with the folks behind twilightwomen. They are both reprinted entirely on the twilightwomen's MySpace blog. Though the interviews overlap somewhat, combined, they provide a look at how Div For'e and the other creators behind the movies and the site see their creations.

A jumping off point for understanding the point of view behind the twilightwomen project, as it were, is of course the About Us page of the website. It states:

This is a world of guilty pleasure,  of lust and shame, temptation  and desire, submissive women  who need control.  

These are not women from pornoland.

   This is not the San Fernando Valley.    

This is the dark, forbidden  shadowland of twilightwomen.

The content within this site was designed for the connoisseur of erotica.

In this Internet age especially, we can capture the depiction of virtually everything sexual. And every subject has been taken to extremes. We think that's great, but it is not our intention to be in competition with all that. From the very beginning our projects tried to focus on two ideas that we would like to see come back into erotica that seem to us almost completely non-existent in current fare, no matter how well done otherwise.

One is character development, the slow evolution from one state of mind to another  that is believable and real.

The second is the depiction of sexual activity of whatever nature as worrisome  behavior that is conflicted, full of guilt and shame.

In a word, drama. We have tried to inject this drama into our films.

That's quite a statement. Among other things, it says that contrary to what's popular - and probably profitable - they intend to invest in subtlety and drama for the sake of creating tension and heightened anticipation on the part of the viewer.

The twilightwomen / Div For'e interviews take the ideas laid out in the About Us page and expound on them a bit. From them, we get a bit of background on how the whole project got started and what gets focussed on and what doesn't in the process of making the movies.

We feel that to show desire and all of the complicated emotions associated with it, is part of what's necessary to demonstrate the drama (and reality) of sexuality - and to us, that's what's interesting both to shoot and to watch. We put significant effort into showing the desire, resistance to that desire and the seduction that eventually overcomes that resistance - all long before the sex act itself. That's the part that we find compelling. (more here)

In the end, what we have is not so much information about Div For'e himself but a bit of a dossier on his influences and motivations, his point of view on pornography / erotica and in particular, the movies he's directed for twilightwomen.

Spotlight: Robin Joy

After devoting a post to the luminous Ann Ampar, recognition must certainly also be given to her co-star in the Lesbian Seduction series, Robin Joy.

A much more enigmatic persona, Robin Joy is the perfect counterpoint to Ann Ampar's character in the series. By turns lustful and passionate, cold and demanding, Robin brings a range of emotion and reaction to the series - but always strictly within the confines of her character. She is the seductress, the dominant, the mistress. We very rarely, if ever, see her not be in control of the situation. We see her let Ann get her way occasionally, which is different - she is then the indulgent mistress, as in Lazy Afternoon.

Robin Joy never flirts with the camera in the same way as Ann Ampar; all of her attention seems to be on her co-star. Robin is always watching Ann, either covertly through sideways glances, measuring her reaction or tolerance - or overtly, practically stalking Ann with her gaze. Their dynamic makes the series - Ann loves to be admired and pursued and Robin loves to admire and pursue her (though she is a wily enough predator that she forces Ann to beg for her attentions often enough to maintain a balance).

Much of what we can know about Robin's character must be gleaned from close observation, as flickers of longing or affection cross her face as she watches Ann. Some of my favorite Robin Joy shots are those in which the camera captures what I think of as her wicked face, with a self-satisfied smirk as she observes Ann begging for more or as she plots how she'll torment the tasty morsel next.

An interlude in the movies comes at the beginning of Kings X, when the camera follows Robin through the streets of a city (probably San Francisco) and we see her patiently, almost shyly watching people go about their business. She waits, biding her time, as intercut shots show us Ann Ampar in the elaborate ritual of getting ready to go out for the evening.

An even more charming interlude is the unusual movie Dancing, in which we see Robin let down her guard and actually get rather playful as she performs a lighthearted, dancing strip-tease. This movie is worth seeing through to the end as it culminates in an exceptionally sexy nude tangle of Ann and Robin on the couch.

A benefit of seeing characters develop throughout a series is watching their slow transformation. The stern and nearly sadistic mistress that we see in Massage, The Dungeon and The Dungeon Part 2 slowly becomes the tender, sensuous and passionate lover of Love and Kisses, Slow Burn and Sauna. Of course, true to her role, Robin never hesitates to use Ann roughly when necessary, as when the two of them are seducing Monique in Whip.

Here's to Robin Joy, twilightwomen's lady of dark mystery.

No, it's not your imagination; posting has been a bit light recently. Life, the universe and everything.

Yet in the midst of accomplishing all the many tasks currently demanding my attention, a particular scene keeps bubbling up to the front of my consciousness, rewarding my memory with lovely images.

Not much is known thus far about the scene, Please from twilightwomen. It is indexed in their Selected Scenes section from a couple of years ago. It's about 18 minutes long and features Cindy and Mara. The website tells us that it's from an upcoming movie in the House of Shame series but that's all in the way of description, save a single provocative sentence: "Mara pleads with Cindy, who both seduces and denies her."

The entire scene take place on the carpeted floor of a room, in front of a fireplace. At the edge of the frame we see a small, decorative water fountain on a low stand. As in other movies from the House of Shame series, Mara wears a light-colored dress while Cindy wears a black cocktail dress. Whether this is meant to symbolize Cindy's dark, sapphic dominance over her pet, or whether these colors are just meant to compliment each woman's disparate beauty, we'll probably never know. But the two certainly make a striking couple.

There's something haunting about this brief scene - a cool elegance, an aloof reservation in the way they relate to the camera, the viewer. Whereas in some of the Lesbian Seduction movies and even other House of Shame scenes, there is an intensity to the action and an intimacy that transcends the mediating lens.... here the scene is ephemeral, somehow dreamy. The camera glides across the still forms of the two women. There is an interior kind of tension in each of them yet when they move it is languidly as though they're enacting the steps to a slow, deliberate dance of seduction and hopeless resistance. It's classic Cindy and Mara and we're never sure which is stalking the other, the reach- and withdraw- of predator and prey increasing the tension until we can't bear not to know what will happen next.

Whip

If for no other reason, Whip is a movie worth noting because it is the source of the iconic image of Ann Ampar and Robin Joy that graces the masthead banner here at Seduction and Hopeless Resistance. It's also one of only two movies in the Lesbian Seduction series featuring Monique, the reserved redhead who Ann and Robin seduce into their debauched world in The Sauna. It's always fun to see a third in the Lesbian Seduction movies because Ann seems to delight in bringing someone else into the naughty game that she and Robin are playing.

In Whip, Monique watches with curiosity, mounting lust and mild panic as Ann and Robin put on a show for her. Lust and curiosity, of course prevail and soon she and Ann are both at the mercy of Robin's perverse imagination.

The Kiss

One of the things that first stood out for me in watching twilightwomen movies was their exceptional handling of the kiss.

The unfortunate reality is that something as natural and instinctive as a kiss is often disastrously executed on the screen. An awkward or forced kiss is excruciating to watch and pulls the viewer right out of the moment. And then there's the reprehensible porno cliche of the anti-kiss, the one with six inches of dead air between two furiously waggling tongues, often accompanied by dramatic moaning. We'll tolerate none of that here at Seduction and Hopeless Resistance.

Whether conflicted, hungry, tentative or heated, the kisses at twilightwomen always read as authentic, believable. Not only that, but these movies invest in the kiss, focus on the kiss, build on the kiss. As a viewer, you wait for it with anticipation and then once begun, never want it to end. As a comment on the twilightwomen site puts it: "When the women kiss, you tend to want to hold your breath, almost afraid that you are about to shatter the moment."

Conflicted Desire: A Story in Pictures

One of these days we'll take a long look at the Dungeon trilogy, the three movies that follow Massage in the Lesbian Seduction series. Each movie in the trilogy is by turns beautiful, shocking, erotic and perverse. Thinking back over those three movies though, there is a particular scene that always brings me a small smile of twisted pleasure.

The entire trilogy takes place inside Robin's dungeon, with the exception of the first five minutes of The Dungeon Part Three. The movie opens with Ann returning to Robin's house, desperate for more. An irritated Robin reluctantly lets her in and it's not long before Robin is once again dishing out a bit more than Ann bargained for.

It's a very memorable beginning. Have a great Memorial Day weekend, everyone!

Spotlight: Ann Ampar

I remember the first time I saw Ann Ampar, the doe-eyed actress who has become the poster girl for twilightwomen.com. I had managed to get my lucky hands on a copy of Massage (Lesbian Seduction Part One) and from the moment I saw those big, brown eyes, framed by those huge, adorably dorky glasses, I was smitten.

She gave an excruciatingly intense and believable performance in Massage and did not disappoint in the next movie I saw her in, Kings X. Ann always manages to arouse both the desire and the empathy of the viewer. I challenge anyone to watch as lust and fear flicker across her face and not be pulled into the drama of her erotic journey. Her performances with co-star Robin Joy are the very embodiment of seduction and hopeless resistance.

There is an easy elegance and grace to her movements and the intimate camera work of director Div For'e always seems to flatter and reveal her best. Her solo performances, even without the tension between her and Robin, are riveting to watch as she flirts, seduces and teases the camera and by extension, the viewer.

While never showy or exaggerated (she's not a screamer; in fact we rarely hear her speak) her performances are always passionate and she seems quite tireless. Indifference and reserve never enter in and it's a delight to watch her engage so fully with her co-stars.

In addition to every feature of the Lesbian Seduction series, she has also appeared in a handful of other twilightwomen scenes, most notably the heart-breakingly beautiful and sensuous scene with Heather from the 50's Beat Movie, also shot by director Div Fo're. That scene recalls a bygone era of forbidden longing, tight sweaters and pencil skirts and has been high on my list of favorites since my first viewing. Other Ann Ampar favorites include: Playing Roles, Taking Pictures, Bruised Bottom and Lazy Afternoon.

A Few of My Favorite Things: The Visit Part Two

Following up on my last post about twilightwomen's The Visit, let's jump right into its sequel, The Visit Part Two. That's exactly what The Visit Part Two does, by the way - jump directly into the action. The opening credit sequence is overlaid onto the explosive climax scene that ends the previous movie, but shot from a different angle. It's the perfect way to seamlessly transition between the two movies and it certainly grabs your attention!

As I mentioned before, these two movies form a set that is a rare treat in the world of lesbian erotica. The pacing of the movie is extremely indulgent of the natural ebbs and flows of an extended sexual encounter. The camera work is intimate without being obtrusive. One of the things that really stand out for me are the dozens of small moments of connection between the two women - Cathryn and Tiffany. Div For'e's camera manages to catch numerous glances, brushes of the skin, kisses and other gestures of affection and desire that give the movies an added layer of authenticity.

The Visit Part Two covers a lot of ground. Without being salacious, it must be said that Cathryn and Tiffany demonstrate just about every imaginable lesbian sex act in the course of this movie, and with great gusto. In fact, at one point, the bed... well, it breaks. And when it does, there is one, fleeting look of concern that crosses Tiffany's face that is quickly eclipsed by the consuming nature of the activity at hand. That's just not something one sees every day.

A Few of My Favorite Things: The Visit

One of the first movies I ever saw from twilightwomen was The Visit. It was released shortly after the launch of their website and then followed up about six months later by its sequel, The Visit Part Two. I did not see them, however, until a couple of years later and they remain favorites. As they say on the website: This unscripted shoot took place all in one day and features such extraordinary, non-stop action that it was necessary to present it in two parts. I think each movie stands on its own quite nicely but together they are explosively sexy and exhausting! For now, I'll just focus on The Visit - I'll leave its sequel for another post.

Within the storyline of the House of Shame series, The Visit is a later movie, making its appearance on the site out of sequence. We are given a small amount of backstory, however. Apparently, all the inhabitants of the House of Shame are away when Tiffany (Rachel's slave, as you may recall) invites Cathryn over. What follows is the kind of epic afternoon of flirting, teasing and lovemaking that most often occurs in the earliest stages of a relationship or an affair - when hours can pass without notice and sexual appetites are insatiable.

The Visit starts out with Cathryn and Tiffany, fully clothed, lounging on the floor, flirting and kissing, leading to a full-on make-out session. Eventually, they move on to the bed, where the clothes come off. The pacing of The Visit is rather languorous, slow kissing leading to a frenzy of orgasm and then the intimate refractory period of embraces before starting up again. Likes waves, the action ebbs and flows with a kind of naturalness and realism that is almost never seen in sex films of any sort. Throughout, the movie is interspersed with moments of connection between the two women and I especially enjoy some of the looks that Cathryn gives Tiffany - alternating between adoring, lustful and curious.

Make no mistake - The Visit, Parts One and Two, are not movies that especially advance the storyline of the House of Shame series, nor do they include any great psychological drama - the hallmark of most of my favorite twilightwomen movies. Instead, they are really just excellent lesbian sex films, rare in their documentary-like tolerance for the natural pacing of sexual encounters and their exhibition of truly uninhibited sexual passion. I have revisited them often and they never disappoint. I leave you until next time with a short clip of the beginning of The Visit.

Joe Sarno (1921 - 2010)

If you've ever watched a twilightwomen movie and been drawn in by the erotic realism and cinematic celebration of female sexual pleasure, or if you've followed either of the main TW video series and are addicted to the unfolding erotic psychodrama - what you're appreciating is not only the deft directorial touch of Div For'e, but also the debt TW movies have to the late, great director Joe Sarno.

Joseph W. Sarno passed away on Monday at age 89, leaving behind a unique and beloved body of work and a host of admiring friends, colleagues and fans around the world. His life and work have been chronicled to much better effect, elsewhere but I couldn't let the week end without tipping my hat and raising a toast to a true pioneer of erotic cinema.

While he directed both softcore and hardcore erotic films, his work could perhaps be better described as sexual psychodrama. Films like LAURA'S TOYS, ABIGAIL LESLIE IS BACK IN TOWN, CONFESSIONS OF A YOUNG AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE, and LOVE IN THE THIRD POSITION told stories of women and men struggling to relate to one another, to society and to their own sexuality with all of the concomitant passion and conflict. The tension and very affecting eroticism in Sarno's movies are demonstrated not just in the explicit sexual encounters but in the glances, the conversations, and the fantasies that come before and after them.

I sometimes feel as though the twilightwomen movies are from a different time and place than the bland, mechanical, vigorous yet passionless porno available in quantity everywhere we look - and maybe that's true - maybe they're from the world that Joe Sarno films inhabit, the world he helped create. Thanks, Joe. Here's to you!

Strange Sisters

I'm deviating briefly here from talking specifically about twilightwomen movies to share with you another of my passions: the lesbian pulp cover. If you are not familiar with this rich world of lesbian iconography and coded communications, allow me to open the door. If you too are a fan of pulp cover art, I hope you'll enjoy this visual survey of delights.

The 1950's and 60's were an absolute golden age of pulp cover art and no genre captivated my imagination and libido so much as the lesbian pulps. The cover art of these paperbacks ("pocketbooks" to those who may have some first-hand knowledge of these bygone days) and their accompanying titles evoked all sorts of mysterious and lurid scenarios in my adolescent imagination. What was this taboo and utterly foreign world suggested in the dark and shadowy illustrations of Strange Friends or The Narrow Line?

Reading these pulps in the backs of musty bookstores as surreptitiously as possible soon led to a collection of my own. I could never get enough of the suggestive covers, no matter how poor the stories inside were. My favorites always involved the classic position of two women - one seated or lying down (often the innocent blond), the other one standing, usually behind (and often dark-haired). These covers are full of stylistic signifiers - codes to be deciphered by those in-the-know about the supposedly depraved nature of the protagonists and their forbidden love. Body position, hair style and color, trousers, a predatory gaze, and especially certain words used in the title or description gave away the sapphic subtext. These "odd girls" and their "twilight desires" on the "forbidden path" were all I couldn't wait to find out about.

Of course, looking back, the key to the attraction - aside from the sense of having a window into a mysterious world that would always be closed to me as a man - was in the drama of it all. If something is forbidden or unacceptable in some way, if we perceive that we ought not to do something - whether this is a view imposed by society or an internal judgement - yet we long to do it anyway, the result is conflict. And conflict is the root of the drama that draws us into a narrative and hooks us there. Without this drama, without something to push against, to overcome - a story is much less likely to engage our sympathetic passions and reactions.

This is the secret that twilightwomen.com understands so well. I knew I'd found a true treasure when I first read the manifesto on their "About Us" page:

Ryan Richardson, the creator of strangesisters.com, is a fellow collector and dare I say - obsessive of the best kind. His collection is massive and stylishly presented on the site, complete with a very nice introductory essay. Thanks Ryan, for sharing your collection with the world. And to Div For'e and the gang at twilightwomen.com - thanks for making the movies that bring the stories to life that I always imagined when I looked at these pulp covers.

Lazy Afternoon - The first 15 minutes

Friends, don't say I've never given you anything. Because I have here for you today the very demonstration of seduction and hopeless resistance: the first fifteen minutes of the movie, Lazy Afternoon.

Lazy Afternoon was one of the first twilightwomen movies I ever saw. It is, as I have recently learned, Part Eleven in the Lesbian Seduction series. I won't do a full plot recap here but I will say that because of a certain scene in the movie showing a lesbian sex act that I have never seen before or since, the movie was permanently imprinted on my brain. It starts out innocently enough with Ann Ampar desperately trying to get Robin's attention but it wades quickly enough into some deep, debauched waters.

A Few of My Favorite Things: Kings X

I could never say that I have a favorite among the movies of twilightwomen.com (in this case my um, heart has room for many loves), but I do have a short list of stand-outs that have a particular impact for me. I've already discussed Lesbian Seduction Part 1 - Massage, the series opener that no lover of lesbian erotica should miss. Also high on the list is Part 5 of the Lesbian Seduction series - Kings X. A very ambitious film, Kings X finds Ann and Robin several chapters on in their relationship. The description of Kings X on the site reads: As the next stage of their relationship begins, Robin pushes Ann's boundaries again; this time with another woman.

The movie opens with Ann at her home, getting ready to go out in that luscious, extended, uniquely feminine way. We see her put up her hair and enter the bath, relaxing and luxuriating in the water. One of the reasons Ann Ampar is one of my favorite performers of all time is that she has a way of inhabiting her body that is completely natural. She has an easy elegance, almost a dancer's grace that is a true pleasure to watch but never seems affected.

Intercut with Ann in the bath are scenes of Robin Joy strolling, almost aimlessly through the streets of a city (most likely San Francisco as I believe that is TW's home base), window shopping and people watching. Following both women through these most common of routines lends a realism to the story, enhancing the feeling that you are somehow privy to a real-life tale unfolding before your eyes.

After the bath, we see Ann perform the next part of this most feminine of rituals - dressing. She puts on stockings and a simple dress, brushes her hair and applies her makeup in a large mirror. Meanwhile, Robin and an unknown woman walk into a bar. (No, that's not the beginning of a joke.)

Seated at the bar, the mystery women nowhere to be seen, Robin watches from the corner of her eye as a very nervous-seeming Ann walks in. This movie is a prime example of how Ann's and Robin's faces both do much of the story-telling. Robin watches Ann much as a predatory cat tracks its delicious prey.

Robin approaches Ann, seated at table, and whispers something in her ear before sauntering off. Shortly afterwards, Ann follows Robin into the women's bathroom. And so begins an absolute classic of a lesbian bar bathroom scene.

Just wow. The look on Ann's face as she enters the bathroom is worth a thousand words, or more. Mixed with fascination, disbelief, curiosity and desire - the look is primarily one of shock. For there in the bathroom are Robin and the mystery woman - Marie in her debut role with twilightwomen - in a heated clinch.

As Ann sidles along the wall, her eyes glued to the sapphic scene in front of her, Robin smirks back at her over Marie's shoulder like the dominant lady-killer that she is. As the scene gets more and more heated between Robin and Marie, we see Ann get increasingly turned on, in spite of herself. The camera alternates, tension mounting, between Ann watching and touching herself and the other two woman making out. Finally, Robin breaks away and goes into a bathroom stall; Marie follows. I won't ruin the rather provocative end of this scene but it is deliciously naughty.

Robin and Marie exit the bar and we next see Ann return to her table from the bathroom to find a note. It's a very nice touch from director, Div For'e that at intervals throughout this movie Ann is confronted with the decision to continue further down the path of debauchery after Robin or turn back. Div For'e lets the camera linger on Ann each time, causing the viewer to feel the desire and fear battling within her as she wrestles with indecision.

Outside the bar, Ann approaches the car in which Robin and Marie are waiting. Full of trepidation and uncertainty, Ann lingers at the door before opening it and sliding into the passenger seat. The drive that follows is one of the most mysteriously sexy things I've seen on video. It's hard to even put into words just why it's sexy. I think an important component is that it's full of unknowns. We don't know (and apparently neither does Ann) where the three women are going or what will happen once they get there. In that way, the ride is full of tension which only increases as the camera slyly captures Robin's hand as it reaches across the gearshift to caress Ann's knee again and again.

The camera work in this scene is also worth noting. Much of the scene appears to be filmed from above (almost as though from the ceiling of the car). Also, the car is actually moving as evidenced by the sound of the wind and the scenery moving by outside. The sequence takes on an almost dreamlike quality, the camera catching Ann's face beautifully as she watches Robin drive. We can see the lust and anticipation building on her face as the car speeds along the highway.

Eventually, Marie is dropped off at an undisclosed location and Robin drives Ann to a secluded parking spot in a heavily wooded area. Without a word, Robin turns to Ann with a look that promises to devour her. Soon the look turns to a kiss and then a passionate encounter.

This make out scene is like a gift to the viewer - including so many elements usually sadly lacking in lesbian erotica movies. Not least among them is the locale. A sex scene in a car outdoors will always have a furtive, clandestine quality that cannot be reproduced indoors. Teenagers make out in cars, and others who can’t postpone their passion. The scene is made even more satisfying for the unbearable build-up that has come before. As in all my favorite twilightwomen videos, the seduction builds the desire of the characters and viewers to such a pitch that the sexual contact that follows burns white hot.

Some detail must be left to the imagination, but the movie concludes as Robin drives Ann back to the house where they first met and leads her up the stairs - inviting us to imagine what will follow in the next chapter of their story.
